Description

The Cisco VIC3 4FXS DID 4-port voice interface card is a Foreign Exchange Subscriber (FXS) port-enabled device that allows up to four analog legacy telecommunications devices such as phones and fax machines to be integrated into modern, digital networks. This Cisco FXS card voice module enables service providers, managed service providers, and enterprises the ability to forge direct connections with public switched telephone networks as well as a PBX, a key system, or other analog devices.

The Cisco VIC3 4FXS DID is compatible with a number of Cisco Series Integrated Services Routers, mountable with an available adapter unit. One of several voice/fax network modules available from Cisco, the VIC3-4FXS/DID has four FXS ports used to directly connect to analog phones, fax machines, and key systems and is capable of battery polarity reversal and transmitting caller ID information. When used to support direct-inward-dial (DID) trunks to provide off-premises connections from a central location, the VIC3 F4XS DID doesn’t support caller ID but it can serve PSTN incoming calls. Capable of working either as a standalone module or integrated with additional modules in a single router, the VIC3-4FXS is a versatile and integral piece of equipment for combining legacy systems with more modern ones.
